He stalks in his vivid stripes

The few steps of his cage

On pads of velvet quiet

In his quiet rage.

Questions:

1.     Who moves through the cage in an unpleasant way?

2.     How does he move in his cage?

3.     Which word has been repeated twice?What does it signify?

1.      The tiger moves through the cage in an unpleasant way.

2.      His gait is quite because of the pads attached to his feet.

3.      The word ‘Quiet’ has been repeated twice .In the third line,the word quite shows that the tiger’s gait is quiet and in the fourth line the word ‘quiet’ shows that the tiger is helpless in the cage he can not roar loudly.He has to surpress his rage,hence quite rage.

2.He should be lurking in shadow

Sliding through long grass

Near the water hole Where plump deer .

Questions:

1.      Who does  he refer to?

2.      Why is he' lurking in shadow?

3.       Why does 'he expect deer to come there?

Answers:

 

1.      He refers to the tiger.

2.      He is lurking in shadow to catch skilfully his prey without being noticed and without making even the slightest noise.

3.      He expects the deer to come there because he is near the water-hole where the deer are most likely to come for water.
